Moving Sustainability to Core Pillar In The Business Strategy
Way before sustainability practices did not have a distinct pillar in the corporate strategy neither was it given a high rating in the performance evaluation process nor has been compulsory deliverable in the corporate strategy. Lack of emphasizing sustainability has led to inequality, hunger and pollution, over exploitation of natural resources, climate change, social exclusion, inequality, poor governance, social economic inequality, economic imbalance, financial instability etc. Suitability therefore; is a model that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their needs too. This can only make sense when the businesses practices ethos of conservation since the resources do not infinity.
To promote sustainability Human Resource and all Business Leaders have a responsibility to tie the Suitability models to performance. Clear SOPs that govern the suitability models must be well in place and communicated to the entire workforce. Promote sustainable investment that generate long-term returns on investment by Setting clear target, upscaling strategies, clear governance policy that are inclusive and transparent and encouraging corporate responsibility
The saying goes; large oaks grow from little acorns. It’s time the Human Resource emphasizes that to achieve optimal sustainable approach requires everyone to make small changes around the 3 pillars of sustainability
